Privacy policy
Short version: we keep what you give us so we can book you a chair and answer you, we don’t sell it, and every email we send has a way out.
What we collect
Only what you give us. If you joined the first-week list before the shop opened, that is your email address and your first and last name. If you book an appointment, the booking platform collects what it needs to hold your slot under its own privacy policy (see Booking, below). If you use the chat, whatever you type into it, including any name, phone number or email you enter. If you buy a gift card or a package, Square’s checkout collects the payment and the details it needs (see Gift cards, below). If you email us, whatever is in that message.
This website’s own code sets no cookies and runs no advertising trackers. It does count visits, so we can see how many people find the shop online. That uses Cloudflare Web Analytics, which records the page viewed, the site that sent you here, your browser and device type, and your approximate country. It sets no cookies, does not follow you to other websites, and does not build a profile of you.
Three tools on the site are run by other companies and work differently: the booking calendar, the chat and the gift-card checkout, all described below. If that changes, this page changes with it before the change goes live.
Booking, on Booksy
Appointments are booked through Booksy. When booking is open, the booking page on this site embeds Booksy’s calendar, and links to the shop’s Booksy page open Booksy directly. What you enter there, such as your name, contact details and the card that holds your appointment, goes to Booksy and is handled under Booksy’s own privacy policy. The shop sees the appointment details Booksy passes on so it can keep your booking.
The embedded calendar also loads Booksy’s own scripts, including tools for analytics, advertising, payment processing and security monitoring, which may set cookies or similar identifiers in your browser. Those scripts are Booksy’s, not ours, and we do not control what they collect.
Live chat
Live chat on this site is provided by LeadConnector, the customer platform we use for the shop. A message you send there, and any name, phone number or email you enter, reaches the shop’s inbox so a person can reply. To keep a conversation in place as you move between pages and visits, the chat stores a record of your visits and chat session in your browser’s local storage, and the chat provider may set its own cookies. Clearing this site’s data in your browser removes what the chat stored there.
Gift cards, on Square
Gift cards, The Onyx and The Aurum are bought on Square’s own checkout pages, not on this website. What you enter there, such as your name, email and card details, goes to Square and is handled under Square’s privacy policy. The shop sees the order details Square passes on, so it can deliver your card.
What we do with it
- Tell the people who joined the first-week list when the book opened.
- Send a small number of emails about the shop. Every one of them carries an unsubscribe link, and using it stops them.
- Keep the appointments you book.
- Answer you if you write to us or send a chat message.
We do not send text messages from this list. If we ever offer texts, they will be a separate, explicit opt-in with their own consent language, never something you were signed up for by leaving an email here.
Who else sees it
The signup form is processed by our website host (Netlify), which stores submissions on our behalf. The emails are sent, and chat messages received, through the customer platform we run the shop on. Appointments are held by Booksy and gift-card orders by Square, as described above, and visit counts by Cloudflare. None of them is given your details by us for any purpose beyond delivering our messages and keeping your bookings. We do not sell, rent or trade the list to anyone.
How long we keep it
While you are on the list. Unsubscribe and your address is removed from the mailing list; ask and it is deleted altogether.
Your choices
- Unsubscribe from any email using the link at the bottom of it.
- Ask what we hold about you, or ask us to delete it. Write to hello@onyxandaurumbarbershop.com.
